Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: April 1, 2026 · Version 1.0
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the StorScale platform, APIs, and related services (the "Services"). The AUP is incorporated into the Terms of Use by reference. Violations are a material breach of the Terms and are grounds for suspension or termination.
Plain-English summary: don't break the law, don't abuse the system, don't use StorScale to scrape competitors' private data or build a copy of our product, and don't resell our data. If something feels off, ask before you do it: hello@storscale.ai.
1. Prohibited activities
You may not, and you may not permit anyone else to:
- Break the law. Use the Services for any unlawful purpose, including violations of anti-trust, consumer protection, anti-discrimination, fair housing, or securities laws.
- Violate third-party rights. Infringe intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or contractual rights of others.
- Scrape paywalled or access-controlled content. Use the Services to access, collect, or ingest data from sources you are not authorized to access, including competitor portals, login-gated sites, or sites behind technical measures that restrict access.
- Resell or redistribute. Resell, sublicense, rent, lease, or redistribute StorScale data, reports, recommendations, or competitor rate intelligence to third parties without our prior written consent.
- Build competing products. Use the Services — including outputs, benchmarks, competitor data, or automated recommendations — to develop, train, improve, or benchmark a competing market intelligence, pricing optimization, or self-storage analytics product.
- Reverse-engineer. Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code, model weights, algorithms, or training data of the Services, except where this restriction is prohibited by law.
- Train third-party AI. Use StorScale Content or competitor rate data to train, fine-tune, or evaluate machine learning models outside the Services.
- Automate abusively. Exceed rate limits, use scrapers, crawlers, or automated tools against the Services, or circumvent throttling or access controls. API access is governed by the documented rate limits for your tier.
- Share credentials. Share accounts, passwords, API keys, or authentication tokens; allow access by anyone other than the individual the account is issued to.
- Attack the platform. Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Services, probe for vulnerabilities without written authorization, disrupt or overload infrastructure, transmit malware, or interfere with other users.
- Falsify identity. Misrepresent who you are, impersonate another person or entity, or falsify headers, identifiers, or other technical indicators.
- Misuse integrations. Connect a PMS or other integration you are not authorized to connect, write-back rates or content to systems without authority, or violate the terms of third-party services StorScale integrates with.
- Upload harmful content. Upload content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, sexually explicit, discriminatory, or that reveals sensitive personal information about third parties without their consent.
- Export-control violations. Use the Services in any country or by any person where use is prohibited by U.S. export controls or sanctions, or in connection with weapons of mass destruction.
- Circumvent billing. Use the Free Facility Audit or free-tier features at scale to avoid purchasing a paid subscription, generate fake accounts, or chain audits across controlled entities to exceed fair-use limits.
2. Tier usage and technical limits
Fair-use technical limits apply per subscription tier. Exceeding documented limits is a violation of this AUP. Typical published limits:
| Limit | Monitor (Free) | Optimize ($349/fac/mo) | Command ($649/fac/mo) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Facilities per account | 1 | Unlimited (per-facility billing) | Unlimited (per-facility billing) |
| Competitor snapshots / month | 3 | Daily | Up to every 6 hours |
| PMS refresh cadence | Monthly | Daily | 6 hours |
| API requests / minute | Not included | 60 | 300 |
| Write-back to PMS | No | No | Yes, with explicit opt-in |
| Multi-user seats | 1 | Up to 5 | Unlimited |
Current, authoritative limits are documented in your account and on storscale.ai/#pricing. If your account settings and this AUP disagree, the values shown in your account are authoritative.
3. Security research and responsible disclosure
We welcome security research. You may test for vulnerabilities on a test account you control, provided you:
- Do not access, modify, or exfiltrate data belonging to other users;
- Do not perform denial-of-service testing;
- Do not use social engineering against StorScale personnel, customers, or vendors;
- Report findings privately to hello@storscale.ai with sufficient detail to reproduce, and give us a reasonable window to remediate before public disclosure.
Good-faith research performed in line with these rules will not result in legal action from StorScale.
4. Reporting abuse
If you believe the Services are being misused, contact hello@storscale.ai. Include the account, URL, or conduct at issue and any supporting evidence.
5. Enforcement
We investigate suspected violations on a case-by-case basis. Depending on severity, intent, and impact, we may:
- Issue a warning and request remediation;
- Throttle, rate-limit, or disable affected features;
- Suspend the account pending investigation;
- Terminate the account and bar re-registration;
- Report unlawful activity to law enforcement;
- Seek damages and injunctive relief.
For serious, repeat, or clearly intentional violations — including scraping paywalled data, building a competing product, or attempting to attack the platform — we may terminate without prior notice and without refund of any prepaid fees. We reserve all rights and remedies under the Terms of Use and applicable law.
6. Changes to this AUP
We may update this AUP. Material changes will be posted at the top of this page with a new effective date and, for paid customers, notified via email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
